Sports Brand Mascot Toy Collection

Inspired by traditional Korean folklore, the vic & ddory toy collection by kt Corporation brings a touch of magic to the world of sports branding. Designed as mascots for the kt wiz baseball team, these cute monsters infused with magical energy are not only adorable but also functional. Made of soft plush material, the collection includes a variety of daily goods that can be used by fans of all ages. With their consistent look and texture, these toys create a stronger connection between the team and its supporters.

One of the unique features of the vic & ddory toy collection is its versatility. The design can be flexibly applied to various daily goods, expanding its usability beyond just a mascot toy. The consistent look and texture of the toys resemble the cheerleading mascots seen in the stadium, creating a stronger connection with fans. From hats to neck pillows and bags, each item in the collection is designed with a sense of entertainment and functionality, bringing vic and ddory closer to the fan's life.

The design and production of the vic & ddory toy collection involved a combination of 2D and 3D software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Indesign, 3DS Max, Maya, and Rhino. The toys are handcrafted using plush, synthetic fiber batting, polyester fiber, and elastic bands. The project was developed by a team led by Creative Director Leehwan Kang and Lead Designer Jaehee Lim, with contributions from Sooyeon Kang, Yunseung Oh, and design partner Locus.

Extensive research was conducted to ensure that the design of the vic & ddory toy collection resonated with baseball fans. A design preference survey was conducted with 530 baseball fans, and their feedback was used to shape the direction of the design. The main target audience for the collection was identified as female and children, based on research and analysis of 130 domestic and international mascots. The final design concept was selected after receiving feedback from 25 children aged 4 to 13.

The vic & ddory toy collection was released in November 2013, with a press conference marking the launch of the kt wiz brand. The project was a response to the limited and undeveloped mascot products available for baseball teams in Korea. The challenge was to create a collection of products that combined high-quality design with functionality, rather than just being boring souvenirs. The design team overcame this challenge by developing features and guidelines that ensured consistency across different forms of the design.

The vic & ddory toy collection has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Toys, Games, and Hobby Products Design category in 2014. This award recognizes designs that demonstrate exceptional expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. The collection has successfully captured the spirit of the kt wiz brand and has become a memorable gift for baseball fans.
